Jeff Davis County Community Foundation

About Us

The Community Foundation of Jeff Davis County was created in 2024 following Hurricane Helene to help restore and strengthen our community. In less than a year, the Foundation has raised nearly half a million dollars in gifts and assisted numerous homeowners in recovery efforts. The Foundation continues to raise funds to foster a thriving, resilient community for all residents of Jeff Davis County.

OUR FUNDS

General Fund

Donations to our general fund support day-to-day operations and are allocated to projects with the greatest need.

JDStrong Disaster Fund

The Jeff Davis Strong initiative embodies the spirit of our community’s recovery. This program is a joint effort of the Jeff Davis County Family Connection Council, Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis County Chamber of Commerce, and the Jeff Davis County Community Foundation.

Big House Preservation Fund

The Jeff Davis County Big House, built in 1914, is the centerpiece of Hazlehurst and serves as both a visitors’ center and community event space. This fund supports restoration and ongoing preservation of the building and property.

Community Event Fund

This fund will provide grants and assistance to local community events once endowed.

Business and Professional Women Association (BPWA) Scholarship Fund

When the Hazlehurst Chapter of BPWA closed, funds were set aside to provide scholarships for young women pursuing college degrees. Donations continue that legacy.

PalletOne Employee Disaster Endowed Fund

upports current and retired employees of PalletOne’s Hazlehurst location after disasters or health emergencies.

    OUR BOARD

The Foundation is guided by a dedicated team of community leaders.
